App Background
Pets provide companionship, emotional support, and joy, yet millions worldwide end up in shelters due to abandonment, neglect, or owners’ inability to provide care. Animal shelters serve as vital havens, but they often face overcrowding, resource shortages, and limited visibility for adoptable pets, which prolongs animals’ stays and decreases their chances of finding permanent homes. In the Philippines, these challenges are compounded by complex adoption procedures, lack of accessible information, and underdeveloped systems for reporting abuse and managing lost pets. As a result, many shelters struggle to balance animal welfare, community needs, and operational constraints.
Despite these barriers, there are significant opportunities to transform shelter operations through integrated systems and community collaboration. Research highlights that streamlining adoption procedures, improving public engagement, and strengthening communication channels can greatly increase adoption rates and reduce shelter strain. Building on these insights, this study introduces a technology-driven solution that enhances pet visibility, simplifies the adoption process, enables efficient reporting of abuse, and assists in reuniting lost pets with their owners. By modernizing current practices, the project aims to alleviate the burden on shelters, shorten animal shelter stays, and foster stronger community involvement in advancing animal welfare.
